IT Developer/Analyst-Oracle

Department:              Corporate Information Systems
Location:                    Birmingham, AL (Corporate Headquarters)
 
 
SUMMARY: The general purpose of the position is to provide technical and analytical capabilities related to the developing, programming, and testing of Oracle computer software applications. This position will also provide leadership and training for those programmers with less experience.
 
QUALIFICATIONS/PROGRAMMING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Candidates must have a minimum 5 years’ experience in development –PL/SQL preferred. Extensive knowledge of Oracle relational databases, Oracle Forms 6i/Reports required, and knowledge of Oracle Application servers (Fusion Middleware/portlets) a plus, as well as knowledge of Discoverer. Candidates must also have a working knowledge of files and relational data structures as well as a working knowledge of Desktop (Windows) and Redhat Linux operating systems.
 
The working environment is Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2, Oracle Database 10.2.3, Oracle Forms 6i and Redhat Linux 4.7.
 
EDUCATION: BS or equivalent degree in a computer-related field (CIS, MIS or Mathematics strongly preferred).
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following…
 
·          Evaluate complex user requests to determine feasibility, cost and time requirements, and current system compatibility.
·          Review with users exact specifications requested and insure that these specifications are translated into program design.
·          Perform independent research to stay abreast of specific technical capabilities, and identify ways technology can be adapted for programming use.
·          Recommend new and better ways for processing various software systems.
·          Provide technical assistance and training as needed.
·          Participate in discussions and present recommendations as needed.
·          Monitor performance of programs after implementation.
·          Recommend ways to streamline operations
·          Insure programs are documented and tested prior to implementation; assist other programmers in debugging programs.
·          Recommend to users how system requirements can best be met.
·          Other duties as assigned.
